The 1940s was a decade of social transition, when the post-war world was pushed into the age of modern convenience and consumerism. For those who still remember, the nostalgia for this simpler time is still strong, and for those of us who are too young, we hold the memories of our grandparent’s time dear. Memory Lane Heritage Village offers a glimpse into this recent past, as it was in coastal, rural Nova Scotia.
“Times were harder then, self reliance was valued, working together a necessity, and making do with what you had, a virtue.”
Your guide will spend up to two hours relating stories and memories of our coastal communities during the 1940s.
This is a hands-on exploration of Memory Lane’s eighteen rescued and reconstructed buildings complete with period artifacts, and customized tour based on your group’s individual interests from homesteading to forestry to archives and genealogy!. Genealogy assistance can be arranged as well
