“Eastern Shore home boy, Clary Croft, has cooked up a program of traditional and contemporary songs and stories that will evoke a time of good food and music in the country kitchen. He’ll be sharing food superstitions, customs, songs and stories plus childhood memories of family foods from the Eastern Shore.” 

Concert from 5:30 to 6:30 in the historic church onsite at Memory Lane Heritage Village, followed by a dinner at 7:00 PM of traditional Nova Scotian recipes from the bestselling cookbook “Out of Old Nova Scotia Kitchens” by Marie Nightingale.

Dinner by reservation only. Cash bar opens at 6:30. Concert tickets available at the door, or purchased online through our giftshop. Dinner tickets must be reserved in advance.

A Father’s Day outing the whole family will love. Enjoy a wide range of vehicles on display throughout the Heritage Village grounds. Special Father’s Day draws and live music in the Clam Factory. Plus kids can challenge Dad to a Kub Kar race after they have made their own in the Boatshop. Snacks and a variety of Cookhouse meals available on site.

A festive day celebrating the coastal villages in the Lake Charlotte area. Come see dozens of remote controlled model boats in action on the Dufferin Pond. Enjoy a free freshly made donut from our vintage Belshaw Donut Robot, then work off the extra calories with some traditional 1940s games and races with the kids, or try panning for gold.

A Variety Show with a difference! We'll have a wartime sing-along, poetry from local poet Burns Marks, a men's chorus with WWII patriotic music, historical readings and some theatrics. This is a kick-off to our weekend with Women’s Heritage Celebration.

This annual celebration of women’s work in the home and community will celebrate the art of quilting as an example of recycling and reuse during the 1940s. Create your own quilt block from fabrics on hand, and watch as your block becomes part of the greater community quilt we will construct over the weekend. Visit the homestead to make pickles, knead bread, or taste rhubarb jelly. Kids will love cranking the rollers when we wash laundry. Spend the day with musicians who love this unique and versatile instrument. If you have ever thought about playing the harmonica, this is the place to start. If you played in the past and it’s now gathering dust, we’ll inspire you to start again. And if you’re a regular player, you’ll be happy to jam or share a tune with other professional and amateur performers.

This is a relaxing and intimate festival, held on the grounds and inside the Heritage Village historic buildings.

The festival ends with a two hour showcase concert featuring harmonica players from all musical genres, from the Isle of Skye to the Mississippi Delta.

Memory Lane hosts the Atlantic Canadian World War Two Living History Association for a two day encampment on the Heritage Village grounds. Dedicated to the authentic portrayal of the soldiers, sailors, air force personnel, and civilians of World War II. The members, in period uniforms, will set up an encampment over the weekend and participate in a Veteran’s Memorial Service and flag raising on Sunday at 1:00 PM.

To commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Elizabeth II we will host a tea social in honour of the Queen's service to her family, community and country during WW2 and her ongoing commitment to honouring those who have served their country through military service. The tea will follow the veteran’s memorial service at 1:00 PM.

We are excited to bring our 2nd Musique Royale Concert and Dinner to Memory Lane this September.

The Chris Norman - David Greenberg Duo are making a special stop at Memory Lane before departing for international bookings in the fall.

The Duo are described as two of the most imaginative and dynamic performers in traditional and early music who have joined forces to present a program that runs the gamut from renaissance, baroque, traditional and original music incorporating flutes, violins, vielles, pipes, keyboards, and voice. David Greenberg has gained the reputation in Cape Breton music circles as being one of the few people from outside the Nova Scotia island to have achieved a fluent command of the Cape Breton idiom. He has been lauded as "one of the most impassioned folk-fiddlers you'll ever hear" (James Manishen, Winnipeg Free Press). These two extraordinary performers have played together as sparring partners for more than a decade on the concert stage and recording studio.

Chris Norman is described by New Yorker Magazine as “ . . .a flute player of spectacular & imaginative virtuosity.” Born in Halifax, Chris maintains a busy performance schedule, as well as teaching master classes, and inspiring thousands of musicians both young and old as the founder and director of the international Boxwood Festivals. As a composer Chris is the recipient of numerous grants and commissions. Recent works includeOut of Orkney, a tone poem for flute, harp, and string orchestra, and The Sunshine of St. Eulalie commisioned by the Ohio State University Flute Choir. His compositions been featured on National Public Radio, the CBC in Canada and the BBC, as well as concert halls in Europe, North America Australia and New Zealand.  Norman’s flute playing can be heard featured in the Oscar winning soundtrack of Titanic as well as other films including Stone of Destiny and Soldier. His solo CD releases have received unanimous praise from critics and audiences alike. His debut Man With the Wooden Flute made the Billboard crossover charts for 12 weeks. Since that time Norman has collaborated, toured and recorded with some of today's most seminal artists in the genres of early music and traditional folk music.  

David Greenberg taught himself folk fiddle tunes by ear as a young child growing up in Maryland. He learned conventional classical violin through his teens, and in the mid 80s he studied baroque violin with Stanley Ritchie at Indiana University's Early Music Institute. DG spent the 1990s performing and recording with Tafelmusik while developing a specialty in Scottish baroque-folk music, recording three groundbreaking CDs in this genre with his group Puirt A Baroque. Immersing himself in Cape Breton traditional music, he also co-authored at this time the DunGreen Collection, a treatise on Cape Breton fiddle music, with his wife Kate Dunlay. He lives with his family in Halifax, Nova Scotia, dividing his time among various regular collaborators and an irregular one now and then just for fun. He directs the Tempest baroque ensemble in Halifax.

Musique Royale, now in its 27th season, is cross-province festival that brings performances of early and traditional music to settings of historic and cultural significance in communities throughout Nova Scotia.

The Clam Harbour United Church provides an unforgettable venue for the Musique Royale concerts. This simple church (seating is limited to 90) built in 1891 features superb acoustics in an intimate setting. However we do recommend that you bring a cushion for the "puritan pews".
