A Ghostly Encounter: An original promenade theatre production written and performed by the Eastern Shore Players.
This comedy is based on a fictional visit to the village by Helen Creighton, the renowned folklorist who collected and published traditional music and lore of Maritime Canada. When Helen and her dear friend, Doreen Senior, are lured to the village with the promise of authentic ghostly tales and songs, they arrive eager to take notes. What ensues is a story of misguided plans and the occasional eerie encounter!
The story is an original composition formed from a series of workshops led by Jeremy Webb (Artistic Producer Eastern Front Theatre).
Many thanks go to production sponsors The Helen Creighton Folklore Society (helencreighton.org), as well as NS Communities, Culture and Heritage for partly funding the workshops.
All productions require advance registration, and are limited to a 60 person audience. Audience members are encouraged to bring a flashlight and to dress warmly as the majority of scenes will take place in the dark. Some outdoor seating will be provided. While this is a comedy, young children and faint of heart may find certain aspects of the production distressing.
