Nova Scotia Forest Festival - A Canada 150 Event

The Nova Scotia Forest Festival is a showcase of the many ways Nova Scotians connect to the Province’s forests for their livelihood, housing, recreation, food, and heritage.

Hand's On Activities:

  • Central Campfire with Songs, Storytelling & Marshmallows
  • Axe-throwing Competition (Must be 18+ years old)
  • Forest Ecology Art
  • Canoeing
  • Maple Syrup Sampling
  • Wood Stacking & Common Hand Tools
  • Wood Bending
  • ATV Rides
  • Marvel at the weight of a 1950s chainsaw
  • Join a Forest Ecologist for a Walk Through the Woods
  • Climb Aboard the Ground Search & Rescue Bus

Enjoy nature walks and educational sessions on everything from wilderness survival and forest ecology to contemporary harvesting and manufacturing 

In addition to these hands-on activities, there will be demonstrations of horse logging, our operational shingle mill and belt-driven woodworking equipment, and a portable saw mill.

The event is free admission with traditional lumberjack meals being served in the Cookhouse. ($10 for your choice of a bowl of Beef Stew, Corn Chowder or Tomato Barley Soup or Baked Beans, along with brown bread, gingerbread and apple sauce and a beverage.) 

Time: 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM
